Eastern Europe: Romania/Moldova (2002)
As a second frontier of our exploration, The Future Group sent
a deployment team to Romania and Moldova in Eastern Europe to help combat the problem of orphaned and abandoned children. There
are an estimated 100,000 orphaned and abandoned children in the country and between 3,000 and 5,000 children living in the
gutters of the Romanian capital, Bucharest. The exploratory deployment team worked with partners in the region
to understand the problem and provided basic assistance to the shelters.
At present, Canada's Stop the Trafficking Coalition, has been
carrying forward counter-trafficking programming in Ukraine.
